>A New Kind of Drawing, 2014 –
An ongoing series exploring the embedded drawing; a digital or fabrication drawing able to inform an automated machine, for the purposes of cutting, carving, or printing.
Most studies relate to planar outputs, predominantly as a result of an interest in CNC (computer numerical control) cutting – prior to a sophisticated algorithm, early digital models required a sort of ‘unboxing’, or ‘butterflying’; it was through this process where many of the fabrication drawings emerged as artefacts beyond the cut.
