>A002 Honeysuckle Cottage

The comprehensive remodelling of a former village shop situated within the Conservation Area of Hartlip and located between two Grade II listed cottages.

The nature of the immediate context restricted significant alterations to the street elevation, although in a move to greater balance the facade, a new box sash window was inserted at first floor level, directly above the chamfered former shop entrance.

This insertion allowed for a counterpoint; an en suite, located off the master bedroom. Conceived as a private room, its aperture references nearby bird hides to create a room of an outward looking nature. To further conceal this addition a one way perforated vinyl replicating the tile hung facade was applied to the glass.

Further moves improve lower level circulation and the interrelationships of existing rooms – to specifically meet the needs of contemporary family life.
