Description
One of a pair of limited edition dressing tables solely developed for use on the Dartmouth Row project, in 2016.
The dressing table is a continuation of an architectural narrative established for the house, extending here to the Dartmouth dressing table. This is the second dressing table of a conceived pair; the two sharing family and constructional characteristics such as the planed stave as a proportional and organisational device.
The 02 presents a rectangular mirror and open storage shelf below; a brother of sorts to the 01.
Extracted wider project text explaining the deployment of the narrative device:
‘Inventions and interventions were related rigorously to the original fabric – notably a pyramid stretcher brick prominent in the street-facing facade. The pyramid’s form is used in two ways. In its graphical manifestation, it is flattened and appears as a cross on furniture and other elements. In relief, as a further abstraction of the cross motif, it appears as a single, slanted line rendered in notched, vertical slats.’
