>Post: Investigating Redundancy & Reuse 09.2014

Current investigations into the reframing and redefining of part-redundant agricultural sites.

Increasingly, and as outlined previously by DEFRA, the agricultural industry is finding its profit margins squeezed and the inevitable need to look to less traditional income streams.

Working in collaboration with Ecofloat, we propose a working model that allows an existing network or community of buildings to be exploited as ‘hosts’ to smaller self-sufficient offices and making units, for a variety of applications.

The intention is to construct these units on site and on-demand – and in a community minded, community driven manner; utilising modern methods of construction and consciously reusing materials.

Those materials that are removed from existing structures are then explicitly used to dress the new, continuing an aesthetic lineage and anchoring the new in its place.

More to follow.
